Dazzling Dynamics and Disco-inspired Performance
Since debuting in 1993, the single-cutaway Eclipse has remained a staple of ESP’s sonic offering. Ready for battle, this ESP USA Eclipse takes up the mantle of premium craftsmanship, iconic aesthetics, and powerful performance, as cemented by its predecessors. Its strategically weight-reduced body and graphite-reinforced 3-piece neck maximize stability and minimize fatigue, all without compromising the sonic character of its tonewood foundations. Outfitted with Sperzel Trim-Lok tuners, a TonePros Locking TOM bridge and tailpiece, and a pair of Seymour Duncan Alnico II Pro humbuckers, Sweetwater’s Guitar Gallery was enamored by the exacting precision in construction deployed by ESP USA’s luthiers. With rock-solid turning, premier tonewoods, and an electrifying suite of tone-crafting tools, the ESP USA Eclipse is the ultimate classic-meets-modern axe, bringing time-honored style to the furthest reaches of boundary-pushing sound.
Crafted with care, built for excellence
No matter where you fall on the “where is tone found?” debate, it can’t be overstated how significant the sonic foundation of a guitar is in reaching your creative goals. ESP’s luthiers spared no effort in building an axe that’s ready to serve as the cornerstone of your repertoire of riffs. Its chambered mahogany body features a matching, set-through mahogany neck. Known for its blossoming overtones, shimmering harmonics, and ample dynamic range, mahogany’s naturally balanced tonal profile serves as this Eclipse’s aural anchor, remaining flexible yet focused across playstyles. Up top, an ebony fingerboard imbues your sound with immense sustain, remaining tight and powerful in every register.
Versatile sound shaping, supported by Seymour Duncan
Bringing your sound to life, this US-built Eclipse is endowed with a pair of Seymour Duncan Alnico II Pro humbuckers. Popularized by the top-hat-toting legend Slash, these passive powerhouses are renowned for their boisterous, blues-breaking style, deploying Alnico II bar magnets that feature Seymour Duncan’s distinct vintage-output coil winding to capture multitudes of malleability. In the neck, tones are smoldering and full-bodied throughout the spectrum, brimming with precision, presence, and natural sustain, but without compromising definition. When used in the bridge, your bluesy embers are ignited for a galvanizing array of sound, delivering scorching voicing that won’t sacrifice soul or style, especially with high-gain heat.
Speed, sound, and sustain abound
Utilizing set-through construction, the Eclipse is built from the ground up to maximize sustain and sonic depth. By opting for a 3-piece neck, the increased dimensional stability not only increases its resilience to warping or twisting, but it also augments the harmonic character of your sound, extending the tone-crafting potential of its ebony fingerboard’s 12-inch radius. A Thin “U” neck profile dovetails into a carefully sculpted heel and cutaway, yielding a balanced blend of lightning-fast playability and adaptable comfort to ignite its 22-fret range.
ESP USA series employs the finest materials from around the world
ESP started as a manufacturer of aftermarket guitar parts in Japan in the late 1970s. By the mid-'80s, ESP was making custom guitars for some of the biggest names in rock. An exacting eye toward playability and craftsmanship has made ESP Guitars one of the most visible and prevalent guitar brands in rock and metal. In 2014, ESP opened its first US-based production factory. It's there that the company crafts its acclaimed ESP USA series guitars by hand, using the finest materials from around the world. George Lynch, Ron Wood, Sammy Duet, Kirk Hammett, and Gary Holt (and a bunch of us here at Sweetwater) rely on ESP guitars both onstage and in the studio.
