Built to Luca Mantovanelli’s Exacting Specs
Custom spec’d by Italian shred maestro Luca Mantovanelli, the Ibanez LM1 is built from the ground up for ultra-high-performance and genre-defying tone. This guitar’s lightweight alder body features custom contours and a deep waist to naturally conform to your body, while the Super All Access neck joint offers unfettered access to even the highest frets. Next, the LM1’s exceptionally stable roasted maple neck is carved into a AZ Oval “C” shape, topped with an elegant slab of rosewood, then finished off with 22 highly durable stainless-steel frets in a versatile 9-12-inch radius — it’s certainly a shred-ready design, but Sweetwater guitarists of all styles found the LM1’s high-tech neck a joy to play. Finally, a trio of Seymour Duncan Fortuna single-coil pickups perfectly complement Luca’s diverse sonic stylings with a medium output design that’s equally fit for smooth, laid-back jazzy tones as it is for roaring shred solos.
Anyone familiar with Luca’s music is well aware of how broad his tonal palette stretches — you’re equally likely to find him punching out high-gain rapid-fire licks, putting a moody spin on classic jazz standards, or performing beautifully atmospheric, reverb-drenched solo guitar pieces. To accommodate his genre-defying style, the LM1 is loaded up with a triple play of Seymour Duncan Fortuna pickups, precision voiced for nuanced cleans and clarity-packed dirty tones. Each pickup’s treble and bass response is finely balanced to offer an even tone across all six strings in any position, and Sweetwater guitarists find that their character-packed tone shines through when paired up with a pedal-heavy rig.
S-Tech wood roasted maple neck offers stability and durability
The LM1’s roasted maple neck was subjected to Ibanez’s S-Tech wood nitrogen-heating treatment, which increases its stability, durability, water resistance, and tolerance to temperature changes. The neck is then sealed with oil, resulting in a well-played feel. And it’s supremely comfortable — its fingerboard edge was finished with a smooth curve that extends through the border between the fingerboard and the neck to the fingerboard itself.Beyond that, this guitar’s AZ oval” “C-shaped neck and 9-12-inch compound radius fingerboard accommodate your hand’s natural curve on lower frets, while providing a more modern feel when playing up high.
Gotoh T1702B tremolo provides excellent tuning stability
Developed in collaboration with Gotoh, the LM1’s T1702B tremolo features brass saddles and a brass sustain block, which ensure a natural, warm tone with quick response and amazing articulation. String skipping and hybrid picking are effortless thanks to narrow 10.5mm string spacing. Loading the guitar’s tremolo arm is a breeze, by virtue of the T1702B’s snap-and-hold socket, and its arm torque adjuster allows for fine adjustments without any tools. The T1702B’s stud lock screws lock the stud bolts in place, enhancing the instrument’s resonance and providing excellent tuning stability. Beyond that, the T1702B’s non-recessed design provides an astoundingly smooth tremolo motion that's ideal for guitarists like Luca who regularly swap between disparate playing styles.
