The Ibanez Steve Vai "Woody" JEM77WDP solidbody electric guitar is crafted in a unique manner, but still boasts all the distinctive features that have made the JEMs the most popular signature model in Ibanez's history. The JEM77WDP's body is a resonant piece of mahogany with a beautiful rosewood top. This combination is warmer and a bit thicker sounding than the traditional basswood. And the JEM77WDP also features a set of DiMarzio Dark Matter 2 humbucking and single-coil pickups that are custom designed for this high-performance instrument.

In every way a JEM
Since its release in the 1980s, the Steve Vai signature Ibanez JEM solidbody electric guitar has been one of the most successful signature models in the world. This JEM77WDP shares all the iconic features that have made this instrument so desirable. A trio of high-output pickups delivers singing sustain and a wide variety of tones. A Wizard neck profile - a favorite among fleet-fingered players - begs for your most technical playing. And an Ibanez Edge-Zero II double-locking tremolo provides total pitch control. And of course the JEM77WDP proudly displays the recognizable monkey grip.
 
The warm tones of mahogany and rosewood
Like all versions of the Vai's JEM guitars, the JEM77WDP has a twist that makes it visually and sonically unique. This guitar is crafted from a resonant piece of mahogany instead of the basswood found on the other versions. The mahogany injects a warm, sustaining tone to the guitar and adds a bit more cut on the top end. The mahogany is then capped with a beautiful rosewood top for a beautifully natural look and feel. Finally, you'll love the burl wood pickguard and matching headstock.
 
Custom-designed DiMarzio pickups
The engine that powers the Ibanez JEM77WDP solidbody electric guitar is a trio of Steve Vai's signature DiMarzio Dark Matter 2 pickups. The Dark Matter 2 pickups have been specifically voiced to the warmer and more articulate nature of the mahogany this guitar is made from. Steve wanted a similar output and tone to his previous models but feels the Dark Matter 2 humbuckers better suit this version's acoustic characteristics. The Dark Matter 2 middle single-coil beautifully blends with these high-output humbuckers. And the pickup covers feature an intricate laser-cut design.
